Option Based Decision
Level Alignment & Connectivity Resolution Using BIM

By: BIMEDGE
Project Overview
A partially constructed building required integration with a connecting foot-over-bridge (FOB) at the second-floor level. However, due to on-site execution constraints, a level mismatch was identified between the building and the proposed connection point.
Challenge & Solutions
Challenges We Faced
- Structural levels already cast up to plinth level
- Fixed construction constraints limited design flexibility
- Misalignment between building floor level and FOB connection
- Risk of rework and design inconsistency
What We Solved
Each option was presented with clear implications on:
- Structural modification requirements
- Alignment feasibility
- Construction impact
The BIM environment allowed stakeholders to visualize and compare outcomes before execution.
Our Approach
Using BIM-based modelling and coordination, multiple design alternatives were developed to address the level difference:
- Created 3 feasible connection options
- Simulated structural alignment for each scenario
- Evaluated constructability and integration feasibility
- Enabled visual comparison for stakeholders
Outcome
- Client selected the most optimal option after evaluation
- Improved decision-making through visual clarity
- Avoided potential rework and site-level modifications
- Enabled seamless integration between existing structure and FOB
Key Value Delivered
- BIM-enabled decision support
- Reduction in design ambiguity
- Improved coordination between structural elements
- Faster resolution of on-site constraints
